Following the successful completion of levels 16 & 26 of the Gherkin in London, we were appointed to design Levels 49 & 50 of 1345 Avenue of the Americas (6th Avenue) in New York City for the same confidential client.
From levels 49 & 50, JFK can be seen to the west whilst Washington Bridge and Connecticut are visible to the north beyond Central Park. The client desired an office environment with a well engineered and modernist design approach for the three hundred software developers that now work in the space. The emphasis of the design is on high quality, well detailed materials alongside fully integrated M&E services. We made the most of the views from the site by ensuring there were no barriers to visitors on arrival at reception. AV and VC facilities were an important part of the project. The facilities now allow easy connection with the organization’s worldwide offices and client base.
For this project we successfully partnered with the New York Office of Swanke Hayden Connell. The design process was led from our office in London with SHCA NY detailing and directing the fit-out and ensuring local code and building compliance. The main contractor was J F Fitzgerald.
